ASHLAND, VA-Maggie Roy led four Yellow Jackets in double figures with 14 points on the way to a 77-51 season opening win over Greensboro College in Ashland Friday night.
Greensboro held a 14-12 lead with 13:33 to go in the first half when R-MC Freshman Jordan Cantrell (Washington, NC/ Washington) knocked down a three pointer to put the Yellow Jackets up one and spark a 22-4 Randolph-Macon run. Cantrell would score nine in her freshman debut. The R-MC run was capped by a two point jumper from Roy (Richmond, VA/ Mills Godwin).
The Pride pulled within nine on a three pointer by Jordan Joyce to start the second half but, that would be as close as Greensboro would come for the remainder of the contest. Randolph-Macon Senior Molly Ariail (York, PA/ York Suburban) finished just shy of a double-double with 12 points and a team high nine rebounds.
