11 Yellow Jackets Score in 18-1 Win Over Hollins

ROANOKE, VA – Randolph-Macon Women's Lacrosse used goals from 11 different players on the way to an 18-1 victory over Hollins on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets are now 6-0 / 2-0 ODAC and off to their best start since the 2000 season.

R-MC found the back of the four times over the first two minutes and 29 seconds as Katie Russo, Jenelle Whitman, Rachel Johnsen and Betsy Hebert all tallied goals.

Russo then scored on a goal from Emily Lynch with 24:19 to go in the first to push the advantage to 5-0.

Audrey Hester and Margaret Lyons followed with unassisted goals before Shannon Jamieson and Lynch scored goals of their own to increase the R-MC lead to 10-0.

The Yellow Jackets capped their impressive first half scoring with two tallies from Whitman to take a 12-0 lead into halftime.

Randolph-Macon kept up the defensive pressure in the second half, holding Hollins to just three shots and securing the 18-1 victory.

Whitman finished with four goals to pace the R-MC offense. Kim Wright, Hester, Lynch and Russo tallied two scores each while Lynch and Russo also added three assists.

R-MC's Wright had a game high five draw control wins while Natalie Schnell came away with four.

Goalie Nicole Woodworth stopped all three shots she faced in 30 minutes of action while Morgan Tignor made two saves in 30 minutes between the pipes.

Randolph-Macon Women's Lacrosse returns to action Tuesday, March 19th when they host Calvin for a 4:00 game on Day Field. Tuesday's game will be MS Awareness Day as part of a nationwide campaign to "Scratch Out" Multiple Sclerosis.
