Roanoke Gets Past Randolph-Macon Women's Lacrosse 21-11
ASHLAND, VA – Roanoke College scored 12 first half goals on the way to a 21-11 win over Randolph-Macon Women's Lacrosse Saturday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets return to action Wednesday, April 3rd when they host Lynchburg College at 7:00.
After Roanoke got on the board first, R-MC freshman Shannon Jamieson netted two goals in a 31 second span to put the Yellow Jackets on top 2-1 with 24:26 to go in the first half.
The Maroons responded with goals from Rose Knisley and Jamie Golden to retake the lead.
Emily Lynch then found the back of the net for Randolph-Macon to tie the score at 3-3 with 17:23 left but, Roanoke rattled off nine of the next 11 goals to take a 12-5 edge into halftime.
After two early second half goals from the Maroons pushed their advantage to 14-5, the Yellow Jackets rallied for three straight scores, two of the stick of Lynch to pull within six at 14-8.
The teams then traded two goals each before Roanoke used a 5-0 run to seal the win 21-11.
RC junior Allison Bonanno set an ODAC record for assists in a game with 12 to go with her three goals. Darragh Evarts led the Maroons goal scoring with six tallies.
Lynch paced the R-MC attack with four goals and two assists while Hebert had three score and Jamieson chipped in with two.
Goalie Nicole Woodworth made nine saves between the pipes for the Yellow Jackets.
