ASHLAND, VA – Randolph-Macon Women's Lacrosse fell to Lynchburg in a tightly contested game Wednesday night. The Yellow Jackets return to action Saturday, April 6th when they travel to Guilford for a 4:00 contest.
LC responded with 25:47 to go in the first on an unassisted goal by Juile Will.
A goal from Lynchburg's Sarah Shannon cut the advantage to one but Jamieson and Whitman went back to back again to put Randolph-Macon in front 6-3.
Lynchburg then went on a 5-0 run with goals from five different players to go back on top 8-6 11:26 to play.
The teams traded scores over the final minutes of the first half and the Hornets took an 11-9 edge into the intermission.
Ryland Scott pushed the LC edge to three with a score at the 25:44 mark but Emily Lynch found the back of the net twice to pull R-MC within one.
Shannon and Scott tallied two straight goals for Lynchburg which pushed their advantage to 14-11 with 14:37 remaining.
Lynch struck again for Randolph-Macon with 8:08 to play but the Yellow Jackets could not punch in another score and the Hornets held on to the 14-12 victory.
Lynch paced R-MC with 4 goals while Jamieson and Whitman added three goals apiece. Nicole Woodworth made 11 stops between the pipes for the Yellow Jackets.
The Hornets were led by Shannon who tallied three goals and Bri Slate who also added three scores. LC's goalie Hailey Bossert made six saves.
Lynchburg held a 31-26 edge in shots and a 15-13 advantage in draw controls. Randolph-Macon led 14-11 in ground balls.
