Carter and Dabareiner Earn AVCA Honorable-Mention All-American Honors
ASHLAND, VA – Randolph-Macon College junior outside hitter Mallory Carter and sophomore libero Marli Dabareiner were named Honorable Mention All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).
For Carter, this caps a season which she was named First-Team All-ODAC and an All-South Region pick by the AVCA. Carter finished the season with 443 kills which is an R-MC single season record. She was tops in the league with a 4.10 kills per game average, while playing the one of the toughest schedules in the South Region. Carter also ranked in the top-10 league wise in service aces (42), service aces per game (0.41) and hitting percentage (.237). Carter accounted for a league best 500 points on the season and her 4.6 total points per game was best in the league. Defensively, she had 343 digs which ranks 13th best in the ODAC.
Dabareiner earned first-team all-league and all-region laurels following a season in which she had 466 digs which was the most in the ODAC. Her 5.12 digs per game was tops in the league. Her 466 stops are sixth-best in a single season history for R-MC.
R-MC finished 24-6, captured its third consecutive ODAC Championship and advanced to the second-round of the NCAA Tournament.
