Yellow Jackets Celebrate Senior Day with 2-0 Win Over Guilford

ASHLAND, Va. – The Randolph-Macon men's soccer team used two second-half goals to find three vital points at home against Guilford. The win comes on an eventful day on campus at Randolph-Macon as the match was part of the 2022 Homecoming celebration as well as Senior Day for Head Coach Josh Laux's bunch.

How it Happened

  • The central midfield play was the hoghleight of the fixture for Randolph-Macon, as seniors Max Radosavljevic (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley), Bogue Cummings (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) and Alec Mowry (Salem, Va./Salem) found creativity to unlock the Guilford back line.
  • It was Christian Gordinier (Newport, N.C./Cosby) that was able to break the tie early in the second half with a set piece goal in the 48th minute. Gordineir found the back of the net with a header off of a beautiful ball in front of the mouth from Colton Howell (Glen Allen, Va./Glen Allen) to stand as the game-winner.
  • The Yellow Jackets would not stop the pressure there, as Mowry found the back of the net in the 60th minute to double the Randolph-Macon advantage with a knuckler that bested the Guilford keeper.
  • Elijah Lloyd (Roanoke, Va./North Cross) proved to be the anchor ofthe Randolph-Macon back line, as he was able to help keeper Zach Fontenot (Palmyra, Va./Fluvanna County) finish with a clean sheet.

Inside the Numbers

  • Fontenot had a solid day in goal, answering the call of every shot his way en route to his first career ODAC clean sheet as well as his second-straight ODAC win in net.
  • Gordinier's game winner came as his second goal in as many fixtures, as he opened the scoring last week on the road at Bridgewater.
  • R-MC outshot the Quakers 11-8 overall and 7-4 on goal, dominating the game on both sides of the ball with creativity.
