SAINT MARY'S CITY, Md. – Olivia Owens finds the net twice as Randolph Macon Women's Soccer cruises past a strong Salisbury side, 3-1, in the final day of the Seahawk Classic Sunday afternoon. Riley Russ' second-half goal gave the Yellow Jackets the insurance needed to see the three points out for the third-straight fixture to start the season.
The Basics:
Score: Randolph-Macon 3, Salisbury 1
Location/Venue: Saint Mary's City, Md./Jamie L. Roberts Stadium
Records: R-MC 3-0-0, Salisbury 2-1-0
How it Happened:
- Olivia Owens (Salisbury, Md./James M. Bennett) broke the 0-0 tie in the 35th-minute with an unassisted goal.
- Owens again found the back of the net in the final minute of the first stanza, as a beautiful ball from Leah Conrad (Bristow, Va./Saint John Paul The Great) set the finish up.
- Salisbury cut the R-MC lead in half with a goal from Alex Jankowski to open the scoring in the second half as the Sea Gull forward made the most of her two looks on the evening.
- Riley Russ (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) added the insurance goal for Randolph-Macon in the 77th-minute, calling her own number on the unassisted finish to help see the three points out.
By The Numbers:
- Randolph-Macon's three goals stand as the highest offensive output in three games this season.
- Owens' two goals are her first two of the season, while Russ's finish also stands as her first of the young season as well.
